Name the new stage in Downtown Brantford

We're inviting the community to help select a name for the new performance stage in Downtown Brantford. The name should reflect the cultural and historical significance of Brantford, especially the unique environment and heritage of the downtown area, the Grand River, and Brantford's strong tradition of arts, learning, and community connection.

About the Space

The City of Brantford has transformed the parkette outside the main branch of the Brantford Public Library on Colborne Street, where members of the public, students, and residents can gather, perform, and interact with art and artists. The parkette project enhances a historically underused area, turning it into a vibrant public venue for artistic expression and community enjoyment.

Features of the redeveloped parkette

• A slightly elevated 10' x 10' wooden performance stage designed for solo acts or small bands
• A striking mural installed in October 2024 by artist Blaze Wiradharma, The Pages of the Grand River, celebrates Brantford’s rich history, honours our connection to the Grand River, and highlights the importance of libraries, learning, and education.
• New amenities added in June 2025, including picnic tables, a bench, and new plantings.

The stage will support pop-up performances by community members as well as future scheduled activities.

How your input will be used

City staff will compile the results of this naming campaign and bring forward a recommendation to City Council for review.

The grand reopening of the space is planned for May 2026 and will be available for community bookings and pop-up performances by June 2026.
