I don’t believe this is a good thing for our community. I would like to see what efforts will be to protect us from having our homes broken into etcetera. I have lived down the street from a shelter in Stoney Creek and it was not good. Is the a government initiative. Hi Susan and thank you for reaching out. Fox Ridge Community is located at 389 West Street. We’ve included a screenshot from Google Maps at the bottom of this message. The City of Brantford purchased the Fox Ridge Community Care property to invest in temporary and permanent housing options in Brantford. The long-term vision for this property is to develop the existing building and land for various temporary and permanent housing options, utilizing a phased approach, prioritizing greatest community need to fully realize the potential of the property. Phase 1 will include 50 units prioritizing families, women, couples, and vulnerable individuals. The entire project will be completed in three phases with a targeted completion date of the end of 2030.

The Fox Ridge Community property has had security operating 24 hours a day, 7 days a week since October 30, 2025 and will be enhanced as residents move in. The first residents to move in will be from Six Nations of the Grand River Long Term Care starting January 1, 2026. We hope you will be able to join us for the Open House on Thursday, December 11, 2025 at the Fox Ridge Community property where you can review plans and speak with staff about the future of the facility and discuss how this location will provide both temporary and permanent housing for individuals in need of safe and affordable housing.
