Share It is my understanding that Mintern Avenue is an Emergency Snow Route. Am I correct? As such, when there is a storm, people should be removing their cars in order for the road to be cleared properly. They DO NOT. Maybe a letter to the residents of this street with a reminder and suggestions of where to park their cars during snow removal would help. In my stretch of this street, neighbours park their cars in other neighbours driveways to effectively get the street cleared and to not make the plows go "around" the parked cars, which only creates a big mess and makes the road even more dangerous than it already is. If a car sits there for days on end and builds up this huge wall of ice around it, the vehicle owner should be subject to some kind of fine or action. At the Mohawk end, this is a BIG problem in the winter. There is posted parking, first part and last part of the month. It's a joke; you have to stop or move over to let cars go by you because there are always cars parked on each side of the roadway at all hours of the day. Years ago, this type of parking reached all the way to Division and now it's only part of that stretch. From Division to Erie, it's wider and doesn't seem to be as much of an issue. It would be great if the entire street was on the same page, that way, snow plows and emergency services will have easier access when needed. As far as the speed bumps go - Emergency Vehicles are hampered by these. They also cause damage to the vehicles/equipment and obviously slow them down. An Emergency Route in my opinion should not slow down emergency vehicles. That said, speeding down Mintern is a big problem because there are no stop signs and people use this street to get to Mohawk/Greenwich street in a hurry. A "catch 22" if you will. One of my biggest issues living in Eagle Place is the speed at which cars are going from the Colborne St. lights through to the Veterans Memorial Parkway. They are racing to get to the parkway and driving like idiots to do so. In the opposite direction, the 50MPH posted speed is behind tree branches and should be 10 times the size. Drivers come through that intersection like bats out of hell. It's scary turning left onto Erie sometimes with the rates some drivers go. I'm surprised there are not more accidents at this intersection. With all of this new development being built effectively causing much, much more traffic, and more bottle necks, this intersection needs serious attention. Is this intersection being looked at? It affects all of Eagle Place. Large trucks are not suppose to use Mintern (unless of course there are there to do business of some kind) but there is only a sign on one end of the street. Can someone look into that? And... lastly, I'm not a fan of the bollards at the corner of Mintern and Erie. People with trailers or boats will definitely find this difficult and frustrating. Not to mention, you are proposing to take up parking spaces that are needed. I park in front of my neighbours place, right there, all the time when I need to. Thank you for looking into this very frustrated neighbourhood. With the overwhelming amount of new housing that's been stuffed into this neighbourhood over the last bit and with the proposed housing and development of the Freshco area, it's going to be a nightmare. Makes me want to move from the area because it's gotten so overcrowded and I don't feel safe anymore. :( Are you working on a safety plan as well? Sue Curtis asked about 1 month agoThank you for your feedback. Staff will review your comments/suggestions before finalizing the neighbourhood traffic plan. Historically, the Chief of Police had to declare a snow emergency for the emergency snow routes to be in effect. We are working to improve how the Snow Routes are implemented and enforced. Mintern Ave. is wider on the westerly portion than it is to the east; the varying parking restrictions are because of the difference street widths. Staff will review for consistency.

Share I live on River Road between Strathcona and Aberdeen we could really benefit from having some speed bumps. When they come through the stop sign at Strathcona and Eagle ave it’s a speedway.i hope other will agree with me that this is a valid concern. Share You plan to put a speed bump in front of 51 Ontario , there is a sewer there and in the winter it gets quite backed up with the snow on the road in front of each neighbours house. Better to be 47 or 55. With the buses coming down Ontario street it’ll create a lot more noise, with more slow downs and stops. Unless the buses are finally changing routes and going down Erie ave like it was supposed. Also with the traffic lights at eagle ave and Ontario it’s more than just the cars, it’s pedestrian crossing here. With the expansion of the downtown soon it will increase foot traffic especially with the new condos being built. on Facebook Share You plan to put a speed bump in front of 51 Ontario , there is a sewer there and in the winter it gets quite backed up with the snow on the road in front of each neighbours house. Why is there parking on Crandell Ave overnight. When Residents can use their driveways
Barb Parker asked about 2 months agoOn-street parking is allowed overnight on most streets in Brantford. If residents of Crandell Ave. would like to pursue an overnight parking restriction, on-street parking amendments are managed through a separate process. A petition signed by the majority of affected residents in support of an overnight parking restriction is required to start the review process.
