Let's talk about the Brantford Parks and Recreation Allocation Policy
The City of Brantford operates several sport and recreational facilities including arenas, ball diamonds, fields, pools, gymnasiums and courts. These spaces serve as home to community clubs, minor sports associations, recreational leagues, private teams and the broader community. They are also public assets and costly to construct, maintain and operate. It is important that the City of Brantford implements appropriate procedures to ensure these assets are optimally used to benefit the community, and that they are made available in the most fair and transparent manner possible.
The objective of an Allocation Policy will be to ensure a fair and equitable approach to the allocation of spaces and effective management of conflicts if more than one user group requests the same facility at the same date and time.
The Parks and Recreation department are pleased to share a draft Allocation Policy that captures the priorities, standards, and principles that will promote optimal use of sports fields, pools, arenas, and gymnasiums that benefit users and the community. Thank you to those who came out to the Allocation Policy meetings in February 2026.
