Share Regarding Shellard Lane No Right Turn on Red signage: would you please consider putting signage at Shellard Lane and Colborne St. West intersection. This is a route I both walk and drive several times a week at all hours of day and evening. It has been my experience that approximately 50 percent of the vehicles turning right onto Colborne St. West from Shellard Lane do not stop on red. AM36 asked 9 months agoThe West Brant Traffic Plan will be finalized after staff review all the comments received and complete additional traffic studies. Staff will then report to Council with recommendations. Some "small wins" may be completed in the Fall, however the majority of the recommendations will require capital funding approved as part of the 2025 budget, so installation of the traffic calming measures won't begin until Spring, 2025 (subject to Council approval).

Ray Bryan asked 9 months agoThe traffic signal proposed at Colborne St. W. and Sherwood Dr. was intended to be a pedestrian signal, however given the number of responses supporting a full traffic signal, staff will review the intersection for the feasibility of a full traffic signal.

Share There was no mention regarding Shellard Lane in this proposal. This is a school district with three facilities within one block. The speed is rarely enforced and it is used as a drag strip after dark. Many tire burnouts visible as evidence of this. Are there traffic calming measures planned for here? Subtlefantasy asked 9 months agoA similar review of the Shellard neighbourhood was completed last year, and staff will be implementing new traffic calming and traffic control measures throughout the neighbourhood this year. The Shellard Lane recommendations are as follows:
1. Install a full traffic signal at the intersection of Shellard Lane and Powell Road/ McGuiness Drive.
2. Implement Monday to Friday “No Right Turn on Red” restrictions at the intersections of Shellard Lane/Flanders Drive during the hours of 8:00am-9:00am and 3:00pm-4:00pm and Shellard Lane/Conklin Road during the hours of 8:00am-4:00pm.
3. Reduce the speed limit in the designated school zone to 40 km/h between Conklin Road and Flanders Drive during school hours.
4. Regularly install on a temporary basis the Speed Display Signs in the school zone.
5. Community Safety Zone
6. Future Automated Speed Enforcement

AM36 asked 9 months agoThank you for your feedback. Speeding on Gilkison St. from the dog park westerly was the concern raised at the public meeting. Staff will investigate additional traffic calming measures on Gilkison St.

Elise asked 9 months agoMount Pleasant Road near Westlake Boulevard is predominantly rural in nature with gravel shoulders. Pedestrian crossing concerns has not been previously raised. The construction project scheduled for Mount Pleasant Road is for the installation of a trunk sewer; the project does not include the installation of sidewalk. A traffic control signal is proposed at the intersection of Mount Pleasant Street at Birkett Lane / Clench Avenue.
