Taxicab By-law Survey
The City of Brantford is conducting a review of our taxi (Brant Taxi, Bell City Cabs and EasyRide Taxi Inc.) and Transportation Network Company (TNCs) services. A TNC is a company that matches passengers with vehicles, via websites and mobile apps. Uber and Lyft are perhaps the most well-known of the TNCs. Using a TNC requires that you must book and pay before your ride takes place and differs from taxis where you can hail a taxi on the street or pre-book with a dispatch operator, and payment is provided at the end of the trip based on the meter charge.
In 2018, the administration and enforcement of the taxicab by-law including the taxicab licensing program was transferred from the Brantford Police Service to the City of Brantford. The City is now conducting a comprehensive review to ensure the by-law meets the needs of the community now and in the future. The City has also received feedback from the taxi community about TNCs and their presence locally and will be including TNCs in the by-law review.
This survey is one way for residents who may or may not use taxi or TNC services to provide input about TNCs that may inform future regulation of these services.
We want to know your thoughts on current taxi and TNC services and areas for improvement that may be important to you and our community.
What you have to say is important in helping to make improvements and plan for the future. Thank you for your participation.
Please tell us about your use of Taxi and/or TNC Services
