Municipal Services Corporation Survey

The City of Brantford is implementing a Municipal Accommodation Tax (MAT) in early 2024 and is seeking public input on this proposal. A Municipal Accommodation Tax is a tax imposed by a local government or municipality on the price of overnight accommodations in its jurisdiction and is typically applied to hotels, motels and other lodging establishments. The primary purpose of the MAT is to generate additional revenue for the municipality to support various initiatives, such as tourism promotion, tourism infrastructure, and tourism product development, which directly or indirectly benefit both visitors and residents alike.

Please note that the personal information collected from this public survey is collected under the authority of Section 10 (1) of Municipal Act, 2001, as amended, and will only be used for the purposes of informing the incorporation of a non-profit, non-share capital Municipal Services Corporation (MSC) to be named the Brantford Tourism Development Corporation. Should you have any questions about the collection of this personal information, please contact Discover Brantford at tourism@brantford.ca.
