Consultation has concluded
Lighting technology has advanced in recent years to provide consumers with more options for brightness, energy efficiency, and price. Some consider certain kinds of lights or residual lighting to be a nuisance. Others are not bothered by this technology and consider them an efficient and cost-effective way to light properties.
Sections 5, 6, and 8 of the Municipal Act 2001 authorize bylaws respecting the health, safety and well-being of persons, and the protection of persons and property, while section 129 provides municipalities with the authority to regulate outdoor illumination, and more specifically, section 6.13 of the City of Brantford Zoning Bylaw regulates flood lighting.
The City is currently considering amending the bylaw that regulates flood lighting on properties and would greatly appreciate your input. Please complete the survey below to help inform updates to the City’s Zoning Bylaw regarding flood lighting.
