It’s Bike Month, Brantford! We’re encouraging you to add cycling to your daily routine this June!

Check out some of the great activities being offered to help get you excited about cycling.

Community Bike Rides - May 29 to June 26

We invite cyclists of all ages to participate in one of our free community rides in celebration of Bike Month this June! Enjoy a tour of your ward or explore a ward you haven't yet had a chance to ride through.

Ride Dates

  • Ward 1 Bike Ride - May 29
    1. Starting Location: D'Aubigny Park Parking Lot (5 Oakhill Drive)
  • Ward 2 Bike Ride - June 5
    1. Starting Location: Rotary Centennial Waterworks Park (390 Grand River Avenue)
  • Ward 3 Bike Ride - June 12
    1. Starting Location: 10 King George Road (Dairee Delite Parking Lot)
  • Ward 4 Bike Ride - June 19
    1. Starting Location: Mohawk Park Upper Parking Lot (51 Lynnwood Drive)
  • Ward 5 Bike Ride - June 26
    1. Starting Location: Mohawk Park Upper Parking Lot (51 Lynnwood Drive)

All rides have a meeting time of 6:45 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. start time. Each ride is approximately 12km and will take approximately one hour to complete.

Bike to School Week - May 29 to June 2

Bike to school each day of Bike to School Week and receive a new prize every day! Prizes include water bottles, bike bells, drawstring bags, juice boxes, frisbees, and more! City of Brantford staff will be on-site at participating schools 30 minutes prior to bell time to hand out free giveaways to any student who rides their bike.


Don’t have a bike? That’s okay! Hop on your scooter, skateboard, or rollerblades!

What to bring:

  • Ensure you are wearing a helmet when riding to school
  • A bike lock (please use the bike racks provided)

Participating schools:

  • Christ the King Catholic School - 8:15 a.m.
  • Princess Elizabeth Public School - 8:20 a.m.
  • St. Peter Catholic School - 8:05 a.m.
  • St. Gabriel Catholic School - 8:25 a.m.
  • Resurrection Catholic School - 8:15 a.m.
  • St. Pius Catholic School - 8:40 a.m.
  • Grandview Public School - 8:25 a.m.
  • King George Public School - 8:20 a.m.

Bike Park Training Day - June 18

On Sunday, June 18, in partnership with the Brant Cycling Club, training sessions are being offered at the Rotary Bike Park (390 Grand River Avenue) for children between the ages of 6 and 12.


Each of the following sessions can accommodate 15 children (5 children per certified instructor). Register today!


Beginner Sessions (usually ages 6 to 7)

Recommended skill level: minimal experience, but can start, stop and ride on their own

  • Beginner Session 1: 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.
  • Beginner Session 2: 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

Intermediate Sessions (usually ages 8 to 9)

Recommended skill level: experienced with braking, shifting gears, and balancing

  • Intermediate Session 1: 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
  • Intermediate Session 2: 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Advanced Session (usually ages 10 to 12)

Recommended skill level: high level experience with climbing and descending hills, cornering at speed and riding on rough terrain

  • Advanced Session 1: 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.
  • Advanced Session 2: 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Bike Month Community Scavenger Hunt

Participate in the Bike Month Community Scavenger Hunt by sharing photos of yourself with your bike in front of each designated contest sign between June 1 and 30, 2023, for the chance to win one of several great prizes from local partners!


Can you bike your way to all of the signs?


To enter, locate each sign, register an account and upload your photo with the title of the sign location that you have cycled to. You must create an account so we can contact you if you are a winner. Winners will randomly be selected during the week of Tuesday, July 4, 2023.


Contest rules and regulations

No purchase necessary. Contest open to the legal residents of Ontario. Entrants must be over the age of majority in the province of Ontario during the Contest Period. The collection personal information is for the purposes of contacting the contest winners only. Odds of winning depend on the number of entries received. Enter online at letstalkbrantford.ca/BikeMonth23 (the “Contest Website”). One entry per person per sign location during the Contest Period. Entrants must include a photo capturing an image of them with a bicycle in front of a contest sign. Contest starts June 1, 2023, and ends June 30, 2023. Winners will be selected during the week of July 4, 2023 in Brantford, Ontario.
